Dear Mr. Moats,

I am writing to express my deep disappointment over the Ticket Office’s policy for Men’s basketball student section tickets for this evening’s NIT game. As you may be aware, the Ticket Office issued tickets today assigning students to specific seats. This method of distribution is problematic for several reasons.

First of all, as you are well aware, students often have a certain section or even row in which they always sit. We line up three, four, and more hours before game time in order to secure these spots. This system yanks away our ability to sit in our traditional spots. We would have been happy to get in line at 5pm to sit in section 106. Instead, we will be forced elsewhere.

Secondly, this ticket policy requires students who want to sit together to line up together. Anyone in college will testify that we all live crazy lives, especially with our differing class schedules, so the chance of getting five or six students together at the same time during normal office hours is pretty non-existent.

Coach Crean asks the student section to be the best in the country. We cannot achieve this goal if the Ticket Office frustrates our efforts. The Athletic Office should do everything it can to encourage “this is our house” enthusiasm and a packed stadium, not hinder it with unreasonable ticket policies. Thank you for your consideration of my concern.

Sincerely yours,
DANIEL R SUHR
