During the Future Wisconsin Conference this weekend, sponsored by www.widigest.com, Rep. Frank Lasee and Sens. Grothman and Reynolds offered a few interesting facts you can use to argue with your liberal friends.

WHY Wisconsin Needs a Taxpayer Bill of Rights:

We are 50th in the nation for retirement friendliness according to an investments magazine and according to WEAC’s own website 49th!

NOW, one argument liberals always use is that TABOR would gut public education.
Yet Wisconsin is first in the nation if you look at cost-of-living adjusted per pupil spending. Sen. Grothman pointed out that since 1995, when these “evil” Republican spending caps were put on schools, lo and behold the pupil to teacher ratio has gone from 15.7 pupils per public school teacher to 14.3! And among total staff (counting professionals, support staff, and teachers) it has gone from 9.1 to 7.8. SO don’t automatically buy the argument that education has been gutted.

Moreover, our fine neighbors to the west in Minnesota spend 12% less on K-12 education than Wisconsin, yet they are always about equal to us in ACT scores.

We suggest you visit Lasee’s website to see what’s happening in YOUR school district’s spending trends.
