I just voted Hilltoppers and Warriors with my two votes at the website announced today. It was very easy to use but, it only required a student ID number so I could see how vote fraud could easily be committed if a student obtained a list of IDs. Let’s hope this does not happen.
Take the official GOP3.com/MURepublicans.com Marquette nickname straw poll today! It has been recreated to reflect the nickname choices so please vote again if you already voted.
Marquette Press Release on today’s vote.
————
Students, alumni, faculty, staff and season ticket holders begin voting today in an online survey to select the university’s athletics nickname. “MU Voice” will allow the Marquette community to participate in a series of two binding votes. The first slate of 10 names plus the option of a write-in is available online in a survey conducted by Advantage Research, an independent research firm.
To vote, go to http://marquette.edu and click “MU Voice.” You will be asked to enter your MU ID number. If you do not have Internet access, call (866) 477-4004. If you have technical problems, call (877) 477-7001.
Please note that these instructions are for students, faculty and staff only. Separate instructions are being provided via postal mail to alumni and season ticket holders.
The first vote will run from today through Sunday, June 5. The two nicknames receiving the most votes will be presented to the Marquette community on Tuesday, June 7, for a second vote. The nickname with the most votes in the second vote will then be presented to President Robert Wild, S.J., to be announced as Marquette’s athletics nickname in time for the university’s entry into the Big East Conference on July 1. Both votes are binding.
In addition to e-mail to those eligible to vote, instructions have been placed on the nickname Web site at http://marquette.edu/nickname, on the CheckMarq Web site for students, faculty and staff, and on the MU Connect Web site for alumni. In addition, faculty and staff will be receiving a postcard in campus mail with these instructions and students, alumni and season ticket holders will receive separate information via U.S. mail.

SPET3R-
Yes, but they chose not to use it, probably in the interest of simplicity.

I am a recent alumni and have yet to receive a postcard with my code to vote for the new nickname. Any word on if this is widespread?

Bill,
I’ve heard that quite a few alums are just getting their postcards regarding the process.
