No, not the Milwaukee rag of a newspaper; The Sentinel, the movie. It came out a while ago, which was why it was only $3 at the Rivoli in Cedarburg. Pizza and a movie, what a great way to celebrate as a family the end of the school year (I know there are those who are thinking pizza and a movie celebration is incomplete without a beer; remember: Andrew/Rachel = high school).

usssSo coming out of the movie, we thought about all of the Secret Service movies of recent years. In the Line of Fire came to mind instantly. Along Came a Spider. Both have the Secret Service protecting the President from an assassin. Then there’s the recent The Interpreter, with Nicole Kidman, where the USSS protects a foreign head of state visiting the United Nations in NYC.

There’s also a whole bunch of comedic Secret Service flicks. First Kid, starting Simbad, protecting the President’s son. Katie Holmes as First Daughter, about the President’s daughter. And who can forget Nicholas Cage protecting a former First Lady in Guarding Tess.

So as we’re walking out of The Sentinel, we start talking about all these Secret Service movies, and my Dad hits on a particular revelation: No one ever tries to shoot the Vice President, yet you get all the perks in office and a great pension. Well, I guess my career path is settled…
