My August edition of Campaigns and Elections Magazine came in the mail today. The Consultant sign-ups included this news for Wisconsin:
Democrat Steve Kagen, running in the 8th Congressional District up in Green Bay, has hired The Campaign Network to do direct mail work for his campaign. TCN is a top-notch firm and a go-to resource for liberals every cycle.
Another 2006 client is Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s reelection campaign; past clients include Dukakis/Benson ’88 and Mondale/Ferraro ’84. They did many of the negative, hit pieces for Kerry-Edwards 2004 attacking President Bush as well.
I suppose it should be no surprise that the candidate with Howard Dean’s pollster is using Teddy Kennedy’s direct mail firm.

So who do you think will be the first campaign to go negative??? My money is on John Gard. Any takers??? Gard conveniently left the Appleton forum 5-10 minutes before the question about running a positive campaign. I’m sure he will get tips from Bush next week on how to funnel money to 527 groups to fabricate stories about his opposition. Why? Because Gard is scared to death that people will get into Congress that will actually do something to help the majority of Americans. Gard and the Republicans only care about 2 things….allowing the rich to hoard more money by cutting their taxes and shipping jobs overseas to reduce costs. Second, using social issues to garner support from religious fanatics when they really never accomplish anything on those issues anyway.
The Dems spent twice as much through 527s, it’s been documented.
