Internet gambling?

Is that really the problem that our Congress chose to fix. So many things are wrong with the world, and internet gambling is the one that needs to get fixed first. Brilliant. Also, it would be one thing if this bill passed through Congress on its own, but it did not. The internet gambling enforcement act was merely a provision of the PORT SECURITY bill. Are you kidding me? What kind of message are they sending America? How stupid.
Banning internet gambling is inherently un-American, and against conservative values, and honestly makes me sick. I rarely complain about laws that Congress passes, but this one was just completely off the mark. One of the sponsors of this ridiculous bill, Rep. Jim Leach claims that a large number of American families are negatively impacted by internet gambling. What an idiot. Let’s outlaw alcohol — that affects at least 100 times as many families as internet gambling. Or how about pornography on the internet - that’s a 10 billion dollar industry that tears apart families.
Which leads us to the real reason why Congress outlawed internet gambling: they can’t tax it. If the U.S. government can’t make money off of it — no one can do it. This is a sad day for America. Let’s hope that the large number of families that are affected by internet gambling don’t vote — or else we’ll have some new leadership in Washington.
