Introducing Forum.Gop3.com

Welcome, if you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed or subscribe to our email newsletter. Thanks for visiting!

In order to allow for more free flowing discussions on any number of areas we cannot possibly address here on Gop3.com:The Triumvirate, I have implemented a forum for our readers. Topics include everything from the 2008 Presidential race (will it be Romney, McCain or Brownback?) to Marquette Basketball and campus politics. Also, there are areas to post and read political internship and job openings, reach out for grassroots connections or just simply discuss a campaign.

To access Gop3.com:The Forum, go to http://forum.gop3.com at any time. If you are a first time user, please register.

Be one of the first five to post and get special user status for exclusive frequent reader areas!

Once you are registered on the forums, you are also registered with the same name as a commentor on Gop3.com and you can login to this site as well through the login link in the Meta section of the righthand sidebar to save time when posting comments.

Any early feedback on this feature?

  2. Chuck Says:

I like the idea of a GOP3 message board.

    Other thoughts:

It is a lot easier to post comments to the blog because it does not require registering. I think the “cost” (of time, memory, mild inconvenience) associated with registering a new user name makes posting to a message boards a deterrent for some GOP3 lurkers.

It is easy/painless to just type in: Name, e-mail address and sometimes a website while posting to GOP3.com.

I’ve made no secret that I’m fascinated by the idea of a message board that could somehow involve a large percentage of Marquette’s campus.

I may just not see it but is there a prominent button or a link on the sidebar that takes us to the message board(s)?

  4. Nathan S Says:

I just signed up and posted a couple of comments there and I think Chuck is right about the “cost” and it will probably cause the message board to grow more slowly but I think there is an up-side to the initial inconvenience too. I think that the people who take that time and effort are more interested in discussion than the hit and run haters that occasionally post here. In short (too late) I think the message board will end up having more in-depth discussions and exchanges of ideas.

Great feedback, keep it coming. I am working to get a very visible button link on the sidebar along with links to the latest forum posts. All other feedback is much appreciated. Please pass the word on to your friends at Marquette or elsewhere about http://forums.gop3.com so we can increase involvement.

    Thanks,
    Brandon

  6. Chuck Says:

You could almost create a…GOP3 Facebook group?

  7. Chuck Says:

To advertise the site and more.

  8. Brandon Henak Says:

I nominate you founder of the Gop3.com Fan Club facebook group :-)

You can now view the latest forum topics in the sidebar on the right under the Recent Readers on the main page (http://www.gop3.com).

    Bad idea.
Blog hopping is the best way to lose readers.
You need to build the forum into this website as less than half who visit will use the link to the forum.
You should know by now, that the Apple model of using a computer, and hence the internet is based on user experience.
That experience is based on one thing.
    Less clicks are better.

Now you want people to double the bookmarks for this site, have two sets of ID and passwords, and take the time to view both?
Guess what people are not going to do?

The forum is built in. As I said, your blog username is the same as your forum username. You can see all the latest posts right on the sidebar and navigate throughout the gop3.com site with ease. I appreciate the feedback but I would encourage you to give it a try.
