You can now once again Digg posts on this site. Digg has restored my account with this final description of how my account, and Gop3.com, got banned for instructing conservatives on the use of digg:
When submitted stories are consistently reported as spam and users complain via our feedback email about submission spam, we ban the domain. This site has been repeatedly reported as spam. Digg does not take a political stance nor is politically biased. We do not ban sites for reasons involving political views. We do ban sites that are repeatedly reported, though, as is the case here.
So basically, Digger and his liberal friends who said they would get me banned did so by fraudulently marking my posts as spam. Digg also mentioned source variety in submissions is respected in the community which I very much agree with and do my best to provide. I appreciated the following closing from Digg support (verbatim):
Digg does, however, encourages its users to take part in the benefits of the Digg’s very diverse community through open discussion, debates, and posts, as long as they are not abusive.
Here is my final response:
Hello-
I understand that a number of liberals succeeded in getting me banned by falsely marking my posts as “spam”, they even stated so on my blog in the comments section. I understand how the Digg system works but, I would ask that you please be wary of liberals gaming the system by falsely reporting a site as spam in this way in the future. Thank you for your disclosure and reconsideration, I respect and appreciate the Digg community and look forward to participating fully for as long as possible.
Thank you for your time,
Brandon Henak

Wow…Welcome back!
wow, what a saga! your responses are great.
What a shame. More unvetted, hysterical, hypocritical propoganda will make its way into the fold.
Just because you have a view does not make your view the right one. Or the popular one.
You know as well as anyone else that the addition of Digg to your site is not to ‘join merrily with the other side’ all innocent-like but instead to push forward your archaic way of thinking on a group that laughs at you. You figure strong arm tactics will win you a little itty bitty limelight. Just enough to win more weak minded fools.
Don’t lie about it. It’s obvious. You have fans on LGF, MM, and other such sites. It’s not like you don’t have a following and a base of users to pull from. So why Digg? Because you know Digg stories can get coverage. Sad.
Maybe Digg users on the whole don’t need or want your ultra-conservative, wives should be seen and not heard and stay at home, Christians are the only ones God loves, Muslims are all 100% evil, Gays aren’t real people, blacks are uppity, liberals want to kill our troops, version of reality.
Noone is denying you the right to post on Digg. Feel free to continue sending your twisted versions of reality to Digg and many if us will continue to vote our concience.
Albatross:
Through sharing your criticism, I think you violated almost every one of the principles you purported to believe in. You used: anger, straw man, appeals to irrational stereotypes and ad hominem. I think that is a GOP3 record for a liberal commentor.
That is not very progressive, inclusive, reasonable or high-minded.
Chuck,
Speaking my mind is angry…how? I am passionate, yes, but I do not feel anger.
As for your assessment that I am a ‘straw man’, please explain to me how my words are a misrepresentation of this site’s position. I see many articles, which include supportive (if not misled and archaic) commentary from the users, about the opposition of most everything I stated. Just recently- gay marriage.
Finally, to say I was making an ‘ad hominem’ argument is false, misleading, and shows that you ignored the context of my post. I was direct and on topic. (this is the thread about gaming Digg, right)
Yes, Digg is majority liberal in their user base–just as this site is overwhelmingly neo-conservative. The difference between the 2?
There is not an army of diggers trying to penetrate this site and swing/sway its POV.
Look…I wouldn’t walk into a Christian church and stand on the pulpit and say “Hey! You’re all wrong! Listen to me and MY views!” That’s wrong. People have a right to their beliefs. The issue is how this site tried to delver/push its message.
Yeah, that’s great. You all support bush and his cronies. Good for you. But, when did your support suddenly turn into a mission to sway your fellow Americans and tell them they are wrong for their rightful beliefs?
I leave you with this:
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
Albatross:
Speaking my mind is angry…how? I am passionate, yes, but I do not feel anger.
Speaking your mind is fantastic. Speaking your mind by calling conservatives “weak minded fools” and playing on political cartoon stereotypes is anger (and ad hominem: attackin the person/people and not the substance/argument).
An argument is a straw man (and a fallacy) if it misrepresents someone’s position to win rhetorical points. The following line does not represent the views of anyone on this website:
“wives should be seen and not heard and stay at home, Christians are the only ones God loves, Muslims are all 100% evil, Gays aren’t real people, blacks are uppity, liberals want to kill our troops, version of reality.
Many of us here are small government, pro-America and Christian. I do not speak for anyone but myself, though, of course. I think you will be very hard pressed to find many conservatives under the age of 50 who genuinely believe that wives should be seen and not heard…if you have met one, heh, that is unnerving.
I love the phrase “Bush and his cronies” or “Bush and his oil buddies.” Why in the world would a conservative support large government and corruption? Have you ever met a conservative who walks around smiling because of “Bush and his cronies?”
It is okay for Person A to tell Person B “I think you are wrong in your opinion.” I think that is what a free marketplace of ideas is.
I’d just like to point out, that if I really believe something is true, I would be silly not to at least make a small effort in convincing others likewise. What is the point of the truth otherwise? The fact that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing basically is an illustratation of that point.
Ok, so leaving out the part about women–Would you not agree that:
1. you believe in keeping gays from marrying
2. most, if not all, Muslims are evil
3. liberal opposition to the war is tantamount to treason and puts our troops in danger
4. you are against laws which grant blacks the right to jobs through equal opportunity
5. someone will burn in hell if they don’t accept Christ as their Saviour
Is that not a fair, yet minute, cataloging of the Christian Conservative morals/beliefs?
And what are your thoughts on my other points?
Namely, the ‘army of diggers’ and the ‘Christian church’ analogies.
Also, where is it written that all Liberals believe that Government should be big? Some liberals agree that the Gov. should have less to do with our daily lives and personal freedoms.
Equal opportunity, or affirmative action?
Katie,
Though I should have made it clear I was speaking to Chuck’s response, You’re right. I meant to say Affirmative Action.
Thanks for the clarification.
Albatross,
If that is truly how you see the majority of Conservatives or Christian conservatives you need to learn a bit more buddy. Sure there are people both liberal and conservative who have extreme views and may even believe some of your “points” Lets go over them…
1)you believe in keeping gays from marrying
I myself believe that marriage is a right given to a man and a woman, some believe the opposite… i dont therefore think gay people are evil, hate filled or anythign of the sort. I have friends who are gay and do not think any less of them… i believe they are making a wrong choice and are sinners just like i am, but that is my beliefs… there are plenty who believe differently than me and am happy to live in a society where people are free to choose AND VOTE whatever they believe.
2)most, if not all, Muslims are evil
I do not believe even a little bit of this. I do not have the same faith as them and do not agree with their religion but no way in my mind does this make me think that they are evil. I think Islamic facists who believe in killing innocents in order to further their agendas are evil, just as domestic terrorists who have the same goal but with a different agendas are evil.. but to state the muslim community as a whole… not really sure where you are getting that.
3)liberal opposition to the war is tantamount to treason and puts our troops in danger
I do not even come close to believing this nor do i think very many conservatives do as a good deal like you claim to make the assertion. I would not like to live in a society where some opinion or way is forced upon you. We live in a free society where debates and protests are the norm. Now when it comes to the troops and spitting on them (vietnam) cutting THEIR funding, or in any way degrading what THEY are doing, then yes i believe this does put our troops in danger. I do not believe Cindy Sheehad or Hollywood liberals or those like them put are troops in danger or are treasonous. I disagree with what they are saying very much so…
4. you are against laws which grant blacks the right to jobs through equal opportunity
I am in no way against any race (African American, Asian, Mexican, etc) obtaining the same jobs that i can attain… I do not think its fair that ANY race be given preferential treatment over another DUE to race… I believe the best qualified person get the job. If im more qualified than someone who is another race, and they get the job i do not believe this is fair. Also If someone who is another race is more qualified than me, and i get the job because im white, i do not believe that is fair. Many have discussed equal rights for all, well how will this ever be achieved when we are still seperating based on race?
5) someone will burn in hell if they don’t accept Christ as their Saviour
This last post could be said about any religion and its unfair to pin this on Christianity. Yes I do believe that Christ is my savior and died for mine and everyones sins and those who do not accept him as their savior will not go to heaven. Now YOU are saying IM wrong for believing what i do?! Muslims believe those who do not believe in Allah and the teachings of the Koran will not enter heaven, as do the believers of many various religions around the world.
Please do pretend to speak in such generalities if you really do not know “the other side” and believe only quotes or things you hear and apply to all… sure there are probably some who do believe the things on a very extreme side as you stated, just as i could give counter examples and apply them to ALL liberal non christians and that would not be fair on the majority of them as well.
Albatross,
Your assertions are not representative of any Christian or conservative views I embrace. I can’t imagine anyone knowing a significant, much less representative, number of conservatives, who do espouse them. You hold those discriminatory views only because you enjoy your resentment. Liberals only talk about being supportive but habitually aren’t. For example, in order of your “viewsâ€
1. If Clinton had not signed DOMA (defense of marriage act) that says states do not have to recognize same sex marriages from other states that whole debate would be over but he did sign it. It was also supported by the majority of ‘liberals†in congress negating any imagined distinction between liberals and conservatives on that issue. Clinton also said he would let gays in the military and then didn’t. Where were all the liberals then? Kerry was not any more supportive of gay marriage than Bush. Even now a conservative in congress is advocating Domestic Partner Health Benefits Equity Act which would allow small business owners to deduct the medical cost of their domestic partners the same way married couples do and it is being blocked by liberals! http://online.logcabin.org/new.....ll-on.html Where are all the liberals now? Being a liberal on gay issues doesn’t mean anything more than crying about how unfair the world is at gay fundraisers and then turning a blind eye when the gay community gets stabbed in the back.
2. I enlisted in the military because I believe in core freedoms here and abroad and that includes Muslims just as much as anyone else. Military people are largely, like me, conservative and it is people like us that have fought and died so Muslim people can enjoy freedoms they did not previously have. No matter what else you think Muslims could not vote and now they can. It was largely conservatives like me that risked all while liberals like you blogged.
3. Opposition to our fight for the freedom for the Iraqi people is sad but not treason. This is one country where treason is constituted by something done and not something that is said. On behalf of soldiers and vets everywhere, you’re welcome.
4. Equal opportunity means the opportunity is equal among everyone and affirmative action does not accomplish that. I agree with the goal but not the method. Besides, who was against the fist black man being appointed to the Supreme Court? Liberals…..There are a lot more examples in this area.
5. I would never claim to know the condition of another person’s soul nor do I consider it my business. I believe we will all meet God as individuals. I don’t believe in reincarnation so if someone thinks I’ll be reincarnated as an ant I wouldn’t care. There’s no reason for you to care what someone else thinks is happening to your soul.
Liberals like you complain but don’t do anything. You won’t even stand up to other liberals. It’s sad that you don’t care about any of those issues or people. I wish you did. Liberals, like the ones I mentioned and you remind me of that quote “When someone shows you who they are, believe them.â€
Rather thank just preventing “liberals” from gaming Digg, one would think Digg would want to develop and implement a system where no-one could game their system. That would be in the best interest of Digg and all of its users, customers, and advertisers.
I posted an original essay I wrote on digg, and it got “11″ digs so far, and no one buried it. But, my essay was titled “How to Lose Credibility on Your Blog, the Huffington Post way.” (Perhaps I should have posted it in opinion instead of news, even though there was important news contained in my essay. ) On a positive note, it was published first on my blog, then on conservative FreeRepublic — and, then, by an independent liberal news site, Black Listed News. com However, I mention all this because: I realized pretty quickly that no matter how diverse the digg creators may hope their community is, or becomes, the liberal slant over there is extremely obvious and very heavy-duty.
I am an independent leaning right, and I felt really sad for those die-hard conservatives over there, because the information they post may be of much greater interest to a more diverse audience than the very solidly and overwhelmingly liberal users of digg. Good luck to you.
Digg.com is getting cocky and banning small web sites just because digg’s users submit them to digg and digg’s moderators don’t like it. Scifidigg.com is the latest victim of Digg’s “We are big, you are small and we can do whatever we want†attitude.
First some background.
After running the website Scifi2u.com for the last year we realised there was a demand for a scifi digg type website – 6 Days ago ScifiDigg.com was born and is powered by open source Pligg and the YouTube API.
So what went wrong?
The site went live on the 22 March 2007. People submitted stories and video links to digg and other sites del.icio.us, Yahoo, Simply and Reddit. Having a submit button makes submitting very easy and fast but that could be a problem.
Let’s get to the point
WITHIN 6 DAYS THE SITE HAS BEEN BANNED FROM DIGG
Digg’s moderators decided that since the link pointed to my site and the posts are mainly videos from YouTube ScifiDigg should be banned from digg and no other links from scifidigg.com can be posted to digg.
Digg’s response
I contacted digg to find out what happened and why they blocked my site. The response I got from them was that my site violated their terms of use, by copying another site. I explained to them that although the video is streamed by YouTube we give the facility for original coments to be added.
The response I got was that they do not allow sites that copy other sites to be submitted to digg. I told them that according to their rules they should also ban Yahoo news, since it does not have an original content but republish articles from PCWorld, Reuters, MACWorld and others. Also falls under this category other major sites like neowin.net, blink.nu and many more that are doing exactly the same infact they should ban YouTube because the video content is often copied from other video websites. But hey, they are big sites and digg can’t pick on them without repercussion, like they can pick on small blogs that try to establish themselves.
So what have we learned?
· Digg’s users don’t really determine what gets promoted, but digg’s moderators do.
· Digg have a different set of rules for small site and different rules for big sites, even though both are doing the same.
· Digg will ban a small site just because one of its user’s submitted an article that other digg members liked and promoted, but moderator didn’t like the link.
· Digg will not listen to reason when told that the site did not violate its TOS.
I am going to create a Digg.com clone http://www.BannedDigg.com Watch this space!!!
I still can’t beleive that so many liberals use phrases like “weak minded fools” and “archaic way of thinking” and “backwards rhetoric” when talking about how much more open-minded they are. It’s the ultimate paradox, but I only hear their voices everywhere. On the internet, TV, the papers, etc. I really hope there is actually a conservative majority and we’re all just not speaking up. Because by my count there is one conservative to every 20 liberals.
