I have reservations about the wild Republican spending that occurred on his shift. How can a truly principled person watch the fox raid the hen house and not step forward and say enough is enough? That really bothers me. Also the vote for McCain-Feingold was bad for our country. Like Nafta, etc, these things really have to be long thought out or the law of unintended consequences strikes. I like Fred and will vote for him if he is our candidate, but I do not think him the strongest. Great actor, but we need the real thing. Newt has been a clarion voice, but has baggage. And his respectable career plus name/face recognition will pull in the rest, including despairing Dems who don't care much for their own weak candidates. C'mon, Fred, RUN!
