JB Van Hollen, a former Thompson appointee and the newly elected Attorney General, is backing Tommy for a White House run. I can’t say I agree with him right now as I would like to see Fred Thompson as the true conservative and the big four (Rudy Guliani, John McCain, Sam Brownback and Mitt Romney) are already well established. It is not on his website but, here is the email I got yesterday:

Wednesday, March 28, 2007Dear friends,
Thanks to so many of you, we were victorious last November and have begun to fight crime and restore integrity at the Wisconsin Department of Justice. Our work continues, but I’d like to take a moment to update you on another exciting endeavor; one which promises to change America for the better.
As you know, Wisconsin’s greatest Governor, Tommy Thompson, is contemplating a run for President of the United States. I have known this man for years and I know that based on his experience, his character, his integrity and his vision for the future, he’s exactly what we need as our President.
As governor, Tommy successfully brought Republicans and Democrats together to reform our criminal justice laws to ensure criminals faced tougher sentences. He led bipartisan efforts to reform education and end welfare as we knew it. He cut taxes and revitalized Wisconsin’s economy. I have always believed the “G” in Tommy G. Thompson stood for “Git ‘er done!” While many in politics merely talk a good game, Tommy is a leader, a doer.
At 9:00 am on the morning of Wednesday, April 4th, Tommy will be making a special appearance in the Milwaukee area. I intend on being there to show him how much I support him.
If you’d like to join us in Milwaukee and show your support for not only his tremendous record of success in Wisconsin but for his next endeavor as well, please send an email to info@tommy2008.com and you will find out how you can join us for this exciting event.
Together, we’ve already changed how Wisconsin’s Department of Justice works. Now, we have an opportunity to change Washington and America as well.
I hope you can join me.

Fred Thompson though? There are other actors to consider for President. Even Christopher Walken is running!
He lost me when he went Larry the Cable Guy on us. Git ‘er done, JB? Honestly?

Are you serious? Git ‘er done? Now there’s a guy you can be proud of.
Tommy Thompson apparently has absolutely no clue that outside of Wisconsin, no one knows who his is, and as soon as he opens his mouth, no one cares who he is. I’ll never understand why people with absoultely no chance of winning continue to throw themselves in these races. It’s pathetic.
If I recall right, I remember reading a bitter article from Jessica McBride about how Tommy really helped JB win the Republican primary. This just seems like a little quid pro quo, ego stroke for Tommy.
I think this is friends helping friends. If Mark Green won the Governorship, I think he’d back Tommy too.
