Fmr Senator Fred Thompson: “I have lymphoma”, Preparing for Presidential run?

Possible presidential candidate and Fmr Senator Fred Thompson has announced he has indolent lymphoma that has been in remission for the past two and a half years.

Thompson has a favorable prognosis and is no longer in treatment, said Dr. Bruce Cheson of Georgetown University Hospital.

Thompson recently told FOX News last month that he was considering making a bid for president. Candidates typically release information about health issues before announcing campaign plans.

It appears from the information I have seen on indolent lymphoma that it is a very low-grade type of cancer, Fred Thompson himself stated that it will not effect him physically or mentally. Others who have worked through their encounters with lymphoma include: NFL star Mark Fields, Mister T, PGA Pro Paul Azinger, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and many others.

I personally still have an unwavering belief that Fred Thompson would be an asset to the 2008 race and is my current choice for 2008. However, he will have to continue to show his mental and physical strength in order to ensure the American people and all his loyal supporters that he is fit for the job.

He definitely is getting considerable press from this (front page on most news sources) and Fox hinted at a run by indicating that health conditions are disclosed before at this time but, the jury is still out on whether it will have a positive or negative effect.
