A blast from the past to get fired up for 2008. This CNN Inside Politics footage is from the 2004 elections (aired on 10/29/04) and details student activism on Marquette University’s campus. Special thanks to Melissa Lopez for pulling it from the archives (and being a driving force for the CRs as part of the leadership team at that time).

A sad reminder of how far we have fallen at Marquette. Instead of a serious conservative movement on campus we have egomaniacs.
Too bad.

Marquette was successful in 2003-04 (as I remember) when there was frequent events and social gatherings on the weekend/in the evening. Beyond that, I think most conservative movements on campuses require several organizations to attract the hundreds/thousands of conservatives on campus. It would seem that in 2003-04, Marquette conservatives carried an activist paradigm. It only takes fun/interesting conservative events and activities to accomplish that. Every conservative in the world could be considered an egomaniac by some standards. As far as campus is concerned, I think we just need more exciting events and outlets.

Only my humble/unqualified opinion, of course.

Yeah, we do need a more exciting outlet now that there is none on campus. It is too bad that when one is created, the focus of the organization becomes more about the person in charge than the movement itself.

“This is our future, you guys. This is our future.”
Is it just me or has gyllenhaal actually become more homosexual since Brokeback Mountain?
Great blogger cameos throughout the clip. Thanks, MLo.

I was really fearful that this woman was about to add “and often” when she raved about students being able to “vote early.”
