Pre-Election Saturday morning of the WICR convention… I’m one for two on witnessing this event. I think I am the only one at this morning’s event without a white shirt and a patriotic tie. (All black with a purple tie
)A lot of young folk seem to be stumbling in a bit late and a little groggy. There must have been some good events last night. I know Brent Gardner had a good night
John has just finished making his final rounds to the table, and Wrasse sits towards the front.
Mary calls things to order at 9 am (:04 actually)
…the hell is Robert’s rules?
-thank you Saul
Motions for time limits…hey great!
I’m live blogging the rules.
Madison nominates John Connors 2nd by White Water
Dan Suhr nominates Ryan Wrasse 2nd by someone
Madison gives quality nomination speech. -Address fundraising John raised a lot for MUCRs. -Diversity: building relationships; meeting members and Quote Reagan
John steps to the mic. Stronger as a group, elect republicans crush Hillary (applause)
Helped Scott Walker and students for Scott. Interned for American’s for Prosperity. Ran Perfecto for Congress. Ex. Director and Political director. Getting republican message out across campus. Monthly E-news letter and Emails. Pay directors. Get more women involved. And raise money. $10,000 raised.
Questions: On time Comittments and money raised and CDC positions. Connors looks like W. the podium lean and some hand gesures.
Dan Suhr is up there. I see more guys than girls. Wrasse – Bush 41. Ryan hates broccoli? Suited for job. Ryan was a field rep. Leadership skills, Raised money for Oneida Co. Grassroots, he’s one of us.
Ryan will meet needs. Set goals, leave mistakes and move forward. Chapter communication, will appoint director. WICRs be a party player at national level. Review constitution and debate issues. Fundraising doesn’t have to be a big issue. Money not only goal. Appoint fundraising people. Spend 90% of fundraising
I never knew creating big government and spending money were republican qualities.
Questions on why ran and biggest influence – name drop oppertunity. Endowment plan: won’t take stance. Favor long term program to not worry about fundraising in the future. Keep 8 CDS? something we need to talk about. Questions paying people vs Grassroots activitism
And that is that
Wrass takes the win.
Someone is 1st VC -he was unopposed
2nd vice chair – two people are running
Girl from P-ville vs. Greg Torres
Platt girl wins.
…we’re gettin mauled
Brandon G looks he’s our Treasurer
GOP3 official blog
O-kosh complains about running as tickets. Meh. Why can’t we run as tickets? Why are we cryng about alliances? Saul hits this good thing about limiting peoples choice if we create rules. Let people do what they want to do! Soup says something about For the good of the people. Didn’t Marx say something about that?
Recognize the Irony about forming an alliance on the resolution banning alliances. Mature to make alliances.
Good point comes from whitewater (i think) It used to be that the 2nd most votes became VP, and that didn’t work. Call to questions.. objections wait…what who votes? what way are we supposed vote? Role call Now we want to end debate…who knows what is going on…. Point of order. Questions. I’m sure Daniel knows whats goin on
Saul: We are debating to end debate
What’s roll call vote?
Okay, so right now we’re voting on whether or not to end debate on the motion from Mr. Nelson. I love Democracy – nothing like a classic debate on whether or not to end debate (thanks Daniel)
Steven’s Point abstains. I have no idea what we are going on. Aj counts
Which way did we vote? We need forum and purality! Abstain votes?
Motion passes, but I’ll run with a running mate next year
River Falls wins chapter of year. -Motion to clap?
Something about a liberal agenda at public schools. MU abstains as a private school
Afirmative action is denied by WICRs – great
Motion to recess to check out. MU leaves; others follow suit.
20 minute recess.
Hey I’m back 30 mins later…
Nominess for CR of year – Tom Burton, Nate Nelson and AJ Zahn
We will find out at dinner tonight…who the hell doesn’t know how to vote? maybe MU is just smarter than everyone, but we don’t screw up votes
Chapter of the year- MU nominates Madison Platt nominated, Edge nominated
Connors speaks for Madison
Plat had some growth
Edge restarted CR chapt.
Dan could be Old Guard – Granted Brian should get it if he got here
Also the Ted Kennedy

“I think I am the only one at this morning’s event without a white shirt and a patriotic tie. (All black with a purple tie)”
That’s important because the standard Republican uniform is awful boring and stereotypical. There’s plenty to time to play politician you don’t have to look the part already.
How many men had earrings? Any males with long hair? In my CR days I had both (still have the earring). One time Bill Clinton came to my school. I went to get a ticket from the College Democrats. With my long hair and goatee they were convinced I was one of them.
Keep your own style and don’t give in. Individuality is a wonderful think.
