Fred Thompson Co-Star: Thompson Presidential Run “going to happen”

From Hotline on Call:
Actor Sam Waterson made the TV rounds to talk about Unity08, but he was also questioned about co-star Fred Thompson:
Asked if Thompson will run: “Yes, I think that’s going to happen.”
More: “He’s a good man, a very nice man and he’s been very, very straightforward with me all the time … When I’ve come to him with questions about what was going on in the world, he’s given me straightforward answers” (”Situation Room,” CNN, 4/24).
From the looks of our poll, Former Senator Fred Thompson has some serious support from grassroots Republicans. His recent meeting with Republican members on The Hill drew 53 members, an obvious showing of support from legislators. He has Fmr Majority Leaders Frist and Baker behind him for support from the old guard but, what about fund raising?
One of his original supporters Rep. Zach Wamp stated:
“He was not afraid, at all, of not having money, not in this climate in terms of his campaign. And he didn’t think it was too late. He knew there was a window, and he was not going to go outside of that window.”
The momentum is building, will we see an announcement of his intentions at his upcoming Orange County Lincoln Club speaking engagement? If not then, when?

Brandon I am more excited than ever about a Fred Thompson run. Things are looking bright and I know the Senator is out there and is aware of the blogosphere and what we mean to him. As long as he knows we support him and the grassroots effort stays alive (and I know it will), the train will keep rolling along and more and more people on the conservative bandwagon will jump onboard….
Run, Fred, Run!

Thanks for the comment Pete, I couldn’t agree more. Check out this lines from Freepers Reo and Uncle George:

Thanks for the link to the Fredipedia. As an old duffer, I’m surprised at the support Fred Thomson gets from young voters. My fellow conservative oldsters seem more inclined to stick with the familiar faces. Faces that may well be so familiar to the not-so-conservative as to be unelectable.

This is going to be a very interesting race and I hope that Thompson is apart of it. There is going to be a debate between the republican presidential candidates on May 3rd at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library……any word on Thompson participating??? It would be great to hear him square off with the republican front runners.

I’ll support him if Sam Waterson runs as his VP. We need a good VP that will take care of the robot problem. (that’d be funny if this was 1995 and people still remembered Old Glory Insurance)

Fred Dalton Thompson will run and will be elected-not only will he
win the Republican nomination, he will also win
the 2008 presidential election. The Democrats will just have
to suffer another four, maybe even eight, more years. This is not
the time, and in fact may never be the time, for Clinton, Gore, or Obama to take the reins. The Daltonites are uniting and when this formidable force is fully congregated, their strength made know, we will turn our
eyes toward the Land of Make Believe and will observe those self-
proclaimed “geniuses”–those “idolistific” and “breathless” Hollywoodites
as they start drowning in their own froth and foam. Furthermore,
Clinton, despite her political weaving and wobbling, and Gore despite
his hyped and celebrated Oscarific cause, and OBama despite his
skill at articulating “nothing” will just have to take a back seat to
the Tall Tennessean with the Reaganesque persona!

It appears that 2000 votes have been cast in the poll… even though its not scientific, 73% are for Fred Thompson. Before it was reset, it was more even across the board.

Enraptured and captivated, I watched our future president on Fox last night and felt more assured than ever that he will soon announce his candidacy.
Some things that troubled me:
1.Dirt digging has begun, engineered by Republicans, not Democrats!
with some opponents even targeting Fred’s wife.
However, in response, this Tall and Tough Tennessean, secure
in himself, demonstrated a full understanding of just how the political
game is played out, wisely having learned to hold his winning cards
close to his chest, shrewdly displaying each at just the right time.
Furthermore, he exhibited noticable savoir faire in his replies proving that he is both a realist and an idealist, with a distinguishable sense of humor and a mind loaded with good, practical, common sense.
2.Dick Morris’ political critique following the interview–unnecessarily
negative!
(I like Morris and often agree with his political critiques, on this one,
I wanted to call in and say, “Dick, you need some intelligent
Jane to umpire and set you straight: Sorry, but you struck
out on this one when you tried to hit a homer with a predetermined
hard swing, hoping to knock Fred’s chances out of the political park
with this foul ball:
Republicans need and want a “superman” like 9-11 super organizer
and leader Rudy Guiliani. Yes, Rudy was a strong leader, as was our
President at that time, but does that prove Rudy should be the one
chosen to lead this country at this time. The times choose the man.
Not man the times.
First, let me speak for myself and for multiple thousands of Republicans, men and women, who rely on those of us with a fervor for the fight to boldly speak out::
We want a calm, level headed, cool, intelligent, great communicator, emotions under control, strong willed, honest, intelligent, altruistic, right thinking, right talking, right standing, right acting political fighter who dons his cape when the times call upon him to don his cape–and not before–ala Ronald Reagan!
We Republicans who think both inside and outside the box don’t want a
“watch me flex my muscles” (whether brawn or brain) ostentatious
sounding and acting kind of political leader. We want a relatively
“Quiet Man” who speaks when it is time to speak and acts when it is time to act. Fred Dalton Thompson might even appear “laid back” as some critics label him, but he carries the”big stick”of political power, prowess, and presidential persona. For all these reasons and more, such as statesmanship knowledge and diplomacy (again, ala Reagan).
Thus, I give you my own assessment: Fred Dalton Thompson will be the next President of the United States!

Speaking now as a woman:
I watched the debates last night, and was not really impressed by any
candidate. No one on display showed any real charisma, such as
Reagan always did. Sorry to always be comparing those in the
mix to Reagan’s style, but just can’t help myself. McCain was
just too too whatever he was trying to be and Guiliani was just
not as too too as he has led us to believe he is–saying that to say
this: not unduly impressed by either of the two top contenders. The only one who seemed to be articulate, calm, confident, and secure in his answers, even seeming to enjoy himself by not taking himself too seriously, and appearing rather presidential in his presentation, overeall, was Mitt Romney. As for Paul, he might as well label himself the Democrat that he seems to be at his core.
But, now, to the man of our electoral dreams: Fred Dalton Thompson. I know, fact is,I have no doubt, that FDT watched and will also study this debate of last night, realizing, finally ( especially when the disappointing public debate responses pour in) that he and only he is the man for the job.
Furthermore, the light of revelation dawned for me last night. I can now comprehend FDT’s delaying strategy: It is nothing less and nothing more than “timing.” I had wanted him to be on that stage last night
with all the wannabe’s, but I am now glad that he followed his instincts and stayed outside the fray. He knows his timing must be perfect. In every-
thing, not only in show biz, but also in politics, Timing is everything!
Now that I think of it, in the Scriptures, Our Lord demonstrated that very fact, for He often said “My time is not yet” to those who were trying
to arrange His agenda for Him. (And please don’t call me on that
statement. I know who our Messiah is.)
Nevertheless, Fred Dalton Thompson knows the value of timing.
And he will appear on the scene when it is most advantageous for him to
do so. Frankly, I think this race will culminate with both McCain
and Romney’s having to step aside as Fred Dalton Thompson and Rudy Guiliani finish the race, neck and neck.
Why that scenario, you may ask. Well, let me tell you, strictly from a woman’s point of view:
Romney is just too too movie star handsome. His good looks and his savioir faire could as easily have taken him to Hollywood as to Massachusetts and the Reagan Library.
Romney would be a trophy husband.
Guiliani would be an exciting boyfriend.
Thompson would be a protective husband and protective father.
McCain would be, well, he would just be a convenient date when
the boyfried was out of town.
Also, and so important, if I should desire to have an abortion, I would want someone to talk me out of it, not give me reasons to have it,
and should I have to receive any harsh news, I would prefer to hear it from Thompson who would be like a good family doctor: his diagnosis would be easier to receive, his medicine more pleasant to the taste, and his bedside manner far more soothing and comforting than either Romney or Guiliani’s.
As a civil and social minded, somewhat politically savvy female, I must conclude with this political assessment: If the GOP wants to win the female vote in this nation, Fred Dalton Thompson must head the Republican ticket. Women vote for the president, not the vice president.
And, in the final analysis, when they have to choose between a Clinton
or an Obama or a Thompson, the majority of women will choose the
Tall, Tough Tennessean–Fred Dalton Thompson!

Thompson is fat and lazy. Always has been. I hope he wins the nimination, it will increase Obama’s chances.
