Mitt Romney appears to be in 3rd place ahead of Rudy…

You forgot about the Governor straw poll:

** If a 2010 primary for governor were being held today, which Republican would you choose to be the party’s nominee?

    -Scott Fitzgerald 3
    -Rick Graber 0
    -Mark Green 62
    -Mike Huebsch 3
    -Ted Kanavas 5
    -Bill McCoshen 3
    -Paul Ryan 24
    -J.B. Van Hollen 42

Scott Walker wins… no surprise. I myself was among the 18 who wrote in a candidate. Scott Walker 1st with 142, Mark Green 2nd with 62, Van Hollen 3rd with 42, Paul Ryan fourth with 24 and 18 Write-ins the rest scattering…

In my personal opinion, Van Hollen should remain Attorney General for at least one more term… he’s done a fantastic job and its only been 4 months. Democrats love him… he probably will win the next election at 70%.

  3. Chuck Says:

Daniel Bice of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel criticized Van Hollen, last week. For what it is worth:

While running to be the state’s top cop, Van Hollen repeatedly pledged that he wouldn’t file the types of consumer and environmental suits brought by then-Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager…

In Van Hollen’s fifth month as AG, he has not dropped a single suit filed by his Democratic predecessor.

    Not one.

As it turns out, the first-term Republican doesn’t even have the authority to dismiss pending state cases. He must go to Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle for permission.

So JB can’t drop the cases because Diamond Jim Doyle has to approve it and won’t because he hates small cranberry farmers… what is the connection and why would JB be criticized for this? If anything, Jim Doyle should take the fall for refusing to drop the cases.

  6. Publius Says:

Without getting into a protracted discussion on JB and his performance as AG…

Shouldn’t he have told us when he was campaigning that he could not unilaterally pull the state out of those cases, versus just saying that he would pull out of the cases…?

And lest you you think I am trying to vindicate Bucher - which I AM NOT - Bucher dropped the ball and should have pointed that out as well.

It seems JB’s campaign promises are coming home to roost: first the crime lab backlog realizations and now this!? And we are only 4 months into his tenure.

    Brian Blanchard must be salivating…

  7. Brandon Henak Says:

JB Van Hollen promised to do his best to end the suits, I don’t remember promises of unilateral power. From what I have read and what I saw at the conference, he is working hard towards fulfilling his promises. I do not fault him for the failures of the Democrat in the governor’s mansion.

More evidence that this is Fred’s for the taking.

Just heard what I have believed for; FDT will announce his candidacy
July 4th. I have sent this message to everyone on my email list,
telling them, now is the time, climb aboard this fast rolling FDT bandwagon. Don’t lose out by failing to support the next president
of the United States of America. We passionately committed
volunteers need to prepare ourselves to defend
our presidential candidate when the diatribes and the vitriolic,
vituperous venom starts to spew from the far left. We must know him better, love and respect him more,
and believe in him so strongly that nothing derogatory said about him (or
his wife) will cause us to blink an eye or deter us from focusing on our
primary mission of seeing him elected in 2008! He is the man for our
times, this is my standard reply: Times choose the man, not the man
the times, and make no mistake about it, FDT is the man for our times.

Watch when he announces on July 4th. Talk about a celebration!
Use your imagination and envision his Democratic opponents’ reactions–
Clinton, Obama, Edwards–who fear Fred Dalton Thompson more than
they fear Guilianni, McCain, and Romney put together. The wringing of hands and the sweaty palms will have begun!

We supporters must prove our loyalty by joining FDT teams that are forming in every town and every city in every state in America.
We must also dig deep and sent in $$$ all we can afford, thus proving wrong all the naysayers, those who insist that FDT has entered the race too late to garner enough funds to run a successful campaign.

They have no idea of the passion generated by the avid Daltonites
in their midst. They have no idea of the power that passion produces
when a just cause has attracted them. The ones who have believed that
they were going to run away with the 2008 election based on their power
to articulate, their power to boldly imitate the southern drawl, and their power to ride in on their good looks have no idea what real power is
all about. They think the war in Iraq and the immigration issues will keep
this country from continuing with a Republican in office. They need to think again! Those of us who are devout Christians who seek God’s Will recognized him as God’s man the moment he appeared on the scene.
Thus I will continue to say as I have said all along. Fred Dalton Thompson was born for such a time as this. He will be the next president of the United States of America!
