That’s right folks, soon to be Presidential candidate Fred Thompson has topped the most recent Rasmussen 2008 Republican Presidential Primary poll. Here are the results:
Thom. 28%
Giul. 27%
Romn. 10%
McCain 10%
Maybe that’s why the other candidates are starting to attack him. Gop3.com Rapid Link Master Scott Genz sums it up pretty well with this statement:
He may be one of the most successful non-candidates of all time. Maybe he should just continue not campaigning.
As impressive as his non-campaign is, I am looking forward to his announcement (July 4th?).

However, as a recent Associated Press story showed, the Romney campaign isn’t concentrating on the national polling numbers, but the numbers in the individual early states, esp. Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. Here, he is building a solid lead.
Very true, and this may be a winning strategy however, Thompson hasn’t even started trying yet, and he is winning. What happens when he starts to hit those early states? He will give Romney a run for his money.
I think Eisenhower was prob the most successful non-candidate ever – the guy won the first primary (NH?) due completely to “Draft Ike” efforts. He hadn’t even wanted to run at that point.
Listening to Charlie today called Thompson the Republican flavor of the month, brought up Gen. Wes Clark, and the general dislike of the top republican contenders. I tend to not disagree but I do like Fred
Mitt may be focusing on individual states, but as of Sunday Fred is leading in South Carolina.

Should be an interesting fight to the primaries.
To all GOP hopefuls: FDT is ahead in almost all the polls.
We who support him must continue representing him with
a positive appeal. I conclude all of my blog comments with
three basic statements: he is the man for our times;
he is the only GOP candidate who can and will carry the South; he will be the GOP nominee and he will be elected. Our destiny demands it.
We who are on his bandwagon know that he is as committed to
this nation as we are committed to him, seeing him as the man
that we have chosen to lead us out of these turbulent, treacherous
times. on July 4th, we will see, with pride, as the Senator announces
his candidacy, and when he announces, the polls that follow will
show a surge in his favor. Let’s remember to speak confidently
of FDT wherever we are, whomever we are with, and let us
not forget to vote in the state primaries and in the national
election. He is he man for our times. He will be elected
as the 44th president. Our Destiny Demands It.
