Gop3.com off to China

Welcome, if you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed or subscribe to our email newsletter. Thanks for visiting!

As some of you have noticed, I have not been the most active of bloggers lately here at Gop3.com, I have been preparing for the trip I am now embarking on to China. I am headed to Shanghai on on business for 3 weeks and I am currently sitting on the plane about to take off. I will do my best to get through to readers from behind the communist firewall (Gop3.com is banned in China) but, if I can’t I will be sure to fill you in upon my return. Oh, and don’t worry, I won’t be applying for the head of product safety position that was vacated by execution last month. Drop a comment if you have any questions or suggestions.

As I recall it was the head of the head of the product safety committee which vacated its position.

Travel well. Bring back lots of stories.

    Hey Brandon,

Your blog doesn’t seem to be blocked in China (I’m in my Shanghai hotel room writing this right now). On the other hand, all of my Flickr photos tagged “China” won’t show up…. Interesting.

    Brandon,

I can recall you and GOP3 being targeted by Digg for banning in the past… not because of anything you did, but because of a malicious intention to censor political speech.

I’d be interested in knowing whether other U.S.-based political sites - especially antijihadist sites such as http://foehammer.net or http://littlegreenfootballs.com/ or http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/ - are banned in China.

Due to the action of “Rev.” Jim Sutter and various politically-correct pressure groups, these and other antijihadist sites have been blacklisted in the U.S. by various content-filtering services, corporations, schools, libraries, and WiFi sites - including Panera Bread, of all places. It seems that any kind of legitimate news and political speech can be blacklisted, even within a government site, and scarcely anybody has the courage to say anything about it.

    That’s about to change!

See http://1389blog.com/2007/08/21/are-anti-jihadist-sites-blocked-where-you-work-study-or-use-wi-fi/ for more about this.

    Thanks,

    1389
