Subject: Iraqi War Protest
Salam All,
The Muslim Student Association encourages EVERYONE to go to the Iraqi War Protest Friday at Marquette.
Details are below and attached is a flyer to spread the word.

12 Noon, Gathering at 1508 W. Clybourn. The goal is to get as many persons as possible with on the steps of the School of Military Science with the signs in the backdrop.
A speaker will announce why we are hear “To Close the Marquette University School of Military Science” because it trains young men and women to participate in an unjust war.
12:30 Led by a major banner asking IS the War in Iraq a Just War? and a poster of Franz Jagerstatter we will march up 16th street and down Wisconsin. During the march we will pass out brochures and gather persons. We could pause at Gesu for prayer if people are so inclined.
1:15 We will gather at O Hara Hall, the Administration building with Fr. Wild’s office behind Gesu and attempt to ask to speak to Fr. Wild. A student or alumni will publicly ask the question, with or without Fr. Wild there: Is the War in Iraq a Just War. He or She will than give our response, based in the brochure and Franz life, that the war in Iraq is Iraq is Unjust and that to cooperate with an Unjust World by having the School of Military science for nine colleges, to train young men and women for Iraq, is to immoral and to cooperate with evil. The speaker(s) or speak would also call on Archbishop Dolan to condemn the cooperation of Marquette in an ‘unjust war.
1:45 Procession from O Hara Hall to 11th and Wisconsin to 707 N. 11th, office building for the Military Chiefs for School of Military Science. A group, mostly students and supports of MU will go up to the offices to ask the Military to remove their training facilities for nine collages for an “unjust” war from this campus.
2:15 March up Wisconsin Ave. past the Jesuit residence at 1404, gathering folks, cross at the stoplights by union over Wis. to the library square (Raynor library). Here we will have the readings of some of the names of the dead Iraqis and Americans The reading of the dead is especially important because they are the ones who have directly felt the impact of this occupation
3pm -5pm we return to School of Military Science for prayer vigil and photo ops. Traffic is great on Clybourn at this time and we continue passing out flyers and gathering support.

Did the space bar on the last part of their flyer malfunction or something?

It appears to be a bad scan job, General.

Nope, thats how the word document renders. You can click on it for a slightly bigger image but the text on the bottom still has weird spacing.

Gee, most you’ll do is cause a bit of eye rolling on campus from Marquette students and faculty alike. Your problem is that MU’s ROTC programs are prestigious and top in the country. A bit of weak protesting will in no way affect the program. By all means protest, but hey, it until you can offer full scholarships for 100+ cadets plus room and board (a normal ROTC program does not give room and board, Marquette grants it to the cadets because the program is so positive for the campus. It is the only ROTC program college in the nation that gives room and board to cadets) the program isn’t going anywhere.
Have fun. Just make sure to keep your paws off the cadets, though it would be great to put a few of your number behind bars for assault.

ROTC,
We’ll be leading the brief counter protest outside the ROTC complex on Clybourn. I know that ROTC students are not allowed to respond, but if you have non-ROTC students who would like to participate in the counter protest against the hippies who want to bring down ROTC let them know. Also feel free to email me if you’d like to help preparing some stuff before the event.

Excellent to hear the MU Republicans are on top of things! Since e-mails aren’t published here, I will probably get in contact with a fellow ROTC cadet who is in the MU Republicans. He’ll no doubt have some information!
