So while at home over break I was able to hear Alberta Darling speak to about 45 people involved with the neighborhood watch (one of which was my dad). She spoke first about some tax issues but then she covered everything she’s done involving crimes and sex offenders. She was one of the original authors of the sexual predator’s registration and community involvement acts and other things like Jessica’s law, which have been adopted elsewhere. She has done a lot of fighting to pass legislation to protect children. I think if more people were aware of all she has done to protect kids and fight sexual predators, and her opposition to taxes, her opponent in November would not have a shot.

However the more exciting news from Menomonee Falls: Jefferson Davis is running for office in Menomonee Falls again in April. Davis, who was forced out as president of Menomonee Falls in January 2005, and also attempted to regain his seat 2007 where he lost by near 30%, is running against Sharon Ellis. Ellis is seeking a third term to “finish what she started”, which as a Menomonee Falls resident probably means nothing. This should prove to be a hard fought election –whether or not the polls show it- considering I have heard murmurs about a bad blood between the two candidates. I’m already busting out my Jefferson Davis for MF President T-shirt.

Also notably State Assembly Rep Sue Jeskewitz’s husband, Jim, is running unopposed for his fifth term -this will give him 15 years on the board. Seems as though the family has political monopoly in the Menomonee Falls area. Also, on a sad note, my dad, though despite urgings and promises of campaigning, decided to call off his consideration to run for office.
