Some of you may recall that several years ago, a group of students objected to the selection of Arun Gandhi for the Mission Week keynote. I think we were right to raise the issue, and I wish the discussion had led to greater clarity on how Marquette interprets and applies the USCCB’s statement “Catholics in Political Life.” Anyway, for those who remember the incident, you may be interested to read this NRO essay by Victor David Hanson dissecting a recent op-ed by Mr. Gandhi - wrong on history, are we surprised?

Although, to MU’s credit, they seem to be more careful in their Mission Week choices since we raised the issue. Who is the speaker this year?

At least on the face of it, this post by Gandhi appears consistent with Church moral teaching.

In general, however, I agree with you that fuzzy-headed leftists run things like Mission Week.
