What’s the point of having a GOP majority in the Assembly if when more than half the caucus opposes a bill, when all seven members of the majority leadership oppose the bill, when GOP allies oppose the bill, and all oppose it because it’s a bad bill, and yet it comes to the floor and passes? It’s a major priority of Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin, and the left wing. And we let it come to the floor and pass, on its way to getting signed by Governor Doyle.
At last year’s RPW state convention, people described Speaker Huebsch’s majority as the goalkeeper who was going to block all the bad laws getting shot at Wisconsin by Doyle and the Dems. Not sure why or how this one slid by…

Because it is a pretty common sense bill.
You are not aware of how the workings in the State Assembly take place, and why.
This was a no-brainer of a bill!
Besides the work in the State Assembly, even when controlled by the GOP, need not pander to the mere poltical and conservative elements. What are you going to do…vote for a Democrat in the fall? By putting yourself so far out on the right-wing side of the issues you peg youself as someone that can be taken for granted at election time. So you are miffed about this…and……
You will be writing the same stuff here about the same crowd of GOPs regardless….and they know that. Tough lesson to learn.
Because the leadership screwed up.
Its a political game!! Obviously there is a different bill that needs to be passed.
Danny, let me ask you this — once the sperm breaks through into the egg, do we have a human being just like you or me?
What happens (without emergency contraception) when the egg fails to attach to the wall of the uterus — should we have a funeral and burial?
Should the woman who has been raped bear the child? If she keeps the child, should she have to take the baby to Waupun so that “Daddy” can see his offspring? Is this what GW Bush refers to as “Republican family values”?
Your attitude is amazing. The woman who has been raped should have the right to avoid becoming pregnant. It isn’t even a close call!
FYI only one of the anti-abortion groups in Wisconsin opposes this bill. Wisconsin Right to Life took no position — only the wingnuts at Pro-Life Wisconsin (and the two nut-case Bishops) went out on a limb against it.
One of the reasons that Mark Green lost is because he allowed his campaign to be dragged into the ditch by the wingnuts in the RPW. Once Scott Walker was out of the race, he should have run down the middle of the road.
