Gop3.com is often very critical of Marquette University, not because we don’t appreciate the education we have received but because we believe constructive criticism is a very effective way to promote change.

However, when my Alma Mater does something that makes me proud, especially in the face of popular liberal sentiment, I like to share it with anyone who will listen. In this light, I would like to highlight that despite past protests from hippies on campus and the new “Center for Peacemaking“, our university is showing it’s support for our Marines. It’s very encouraging to see even a small demonstration of support like this from Marquette University while UC Berkley is kicking out it’s Marine recruiting station and shunning our troops. Here is Marquette’s annual drive to buy tickets to the Louisville game for our Marines:

Jan. 31, 2008

Once again this year Marquette fans will have an opportunity to support those who keep our country safe by purchasing tickets for the families of Marines stationed in Iraq.

With just $10 you can purchase a ticket for the Fox Company Marines for the Louisville game on February 4, 2008 at 6 PM. Marquette will be bringing out the families onto the floor prior to the game for the national anthem and will be recognizing all military personnel during the game.

One Response to “Marquette University Helps Marines, Berkely gives them the Boot”

  1. Jake Creecy says:

I really do think that a week in Baghdad would do wonders for academic elites like those who infest Berkeley. The hippies should go to for that matter.

I am all for academic curiosity and higher thinking (as someone who as been in grad schools for the past six years) however the line must be drawn at blaming the military for our foreign policy. We only carry out policy, we don’t make it.

The PC elite universities like Berekely and the Ivy’s are truly doing this nation a disservice by kicking ROTC and shunning our troops. For hundreds of years those institutions have prided themselves on “producing America’s future leaders” and for the better part of our nation’s history they were essentially correct.

It is striking to read over the large numbers of leaders that have hailed from the likes of Harvard or Princeton that had also served our nation in times of war. What happened to that proud tradition?

Now rather than devote themselves to the education of our future leaders, they preach hatred of America and mislead our future leaders. What type of institution produces national leaders that hate their nation and its history and traditions?
