Earlier this evening, I came across this great video from Badger Blogger. Apparently Lena Taylor has some issues with parliamentary procedure. The long and the short of this phenomenal video seems to be that Sen. Lena Taylor wanted to speak against Senate Substitute Amendment 1 to the Amendment 1 to the Senate Bill 390, however in the process she actually introduced and spoke in favor of the amendment that she did not want. Saying the most memorable line, “I completely and utterly confused.” Senate Bill 390 is simply a bill about increasing the number of people on the Milwaukee Police and Fire Comission. Senator Taylor then had to ask for a reconsideration and the record be expunged. Finally Tim Carpenter, a Senate Democrat stepped in, gave Taylor a verbal smack down for not knowing what she was talking about, and the reconsideration was struck down.
The video ends with a red screen popping up saying “..and she wants to run Milwaukee.” Glorious. Personally I think the way Taylor moves the mic is the best part. I think Senator Taylor just needs to remember what happens when you “assume” something.
Also on a similar note, Scott Walker released a new video today. It’s a great 50 second piece that highlights how Scott intends to save the tax payers millions of dollars by making park employees seasonal –since they don’t need the lawns mowed in winter.

1. Yes. That Lena Taylor video is embarrassing. I don’t know if it by itself precludes her from being County Executive, but whatever.
2. Did Scott Walker’s wife shoot that spot with the family’s Sony Handycam? Two words: camera dolly.
3. Correct me if I’m wrong (and I mean that genuinely) but don’t park employees work year long? I mean, isn’t there park maintenance and upkeep that needs to be done during the off season?
4. And, in response to Walker’s claim that people only use the parks in the summer and spring, don’t people use the parks during the winter months for stuff like hiking and cross-country skiing and sledding?
Wow! Two Lena Taylor episodes in ONE day!
Oh, and in those winter months, I’m sure the sprinklers need to be maintained, the trees (which should never be trimmed in winter) need trimming, and I suppose the X-country skiers would like the snow groomed for them. Seriously, what maintenance is there to do that requires a full staff?
James
I don’t know exactly what maintenance there is in the winter that requires a full staff, but I do feel as if there is stuff to do – I do know for a fact that they trim trees in the winter.
Perhaps part-time in the winter makes more sense.
No reply, Justin?
sorry…figured James sorta answered it. A limited amount of part time works in the parks is much more logical than full time work for doing so little
