Milwaukee st patricks day paradeToday, I joined thousands of Milwaukee residents out in the bright, cold Wisconsin weather to celebrate St.Patrick’s day a little early at the Milwaukee St.Patrick’s day parade. The floats were great, the people were cheerily eating festive food and drinking Guiness along the parade route. Everyone cheered loudly for New York’s finest, a number of police officers flew out for the parade, and it was generally an all around good time.

County Executive Scott WalkerUnfortunately, as the local politicians went by, things changed a bit. Everyone was respectful and cheering for all the candidates as they walked by, except for one gentleman. This person followed County Executive Scott Walker throughout the parade screaming above the happy cheers and clapping coming from everyone lining the route. The man kept pace with Walker hollering that he had “destroyed Milwaukee public transit” and “canceled tons of major bus routes”. Most people looked at him with disgust for trying to spread lies and ruining the atmosphere but, it makes you wonder, just how far will Lena Taylor supporters and those who oppose Scott Walker go? The man has every right to scream falsities all day long but, I think it reflects negatively on Lena Taylor and Democrats in general that their supporters engage in this type of abrasive behavior.

Old Milwaukee Police Patrol CarIt reminds me of the Democrat union thugs that punched, tackled and destroyed the property of my fellow College Republicans at a rally outside a John Kerry event in 2004. There are problems on both sides but, I have always seen higher levels of disrespectful, abrasive behavior coming from the left… no wonder liberal has become such a dirty word in many circles, it has become associated with this type of behavior.

I have to agree, if what you report is accurate, that it was out of line. However, given the number of fallacies and untruths in the rest of this, I would have to question your accuracy in that account as well.

You claim that accusing Walker of cutting bus routes and severely damaging the public transit system in Milwaukee County is a falsity. What proof do you have that Walker maintained or added routes. What proof do you have that ridership is as high or higher than it was before?

I anxiously await to see your reply with these facts and supporting evidence. Otherwise, I will be forced to consider your account of today’s events to be as inaccurate as the rest of you allegations.

Cutting bus routes is different than destroying public transit.

There are a number of people in this county that may not feel that public transit has been “destroyed”, and in a few short weeks we’ll find out to what extent public transit is a priority to the residents of Milwaukee County.

Therefore, it could be accurately portrayed as a falsehood – depending on perspective (and Brandon certainly doesn’t hide his) – that public transit is destroyed. And THAT could be what he was describing as a falsehood.

As far as cutting major bus routes; you’re correct, Walker has cancelled many, as has the County Board.

Why isn’t this man doggedly pursuing other incumbents to elected County office?

So, considering all the above, Brandon’s post speaks for itself without the need to provide documentation in triplicate to assuage your concerns, capper.

“What proof do you have that ridership is as high or higher than it was before?”

This doesn’t prove a thing, in and of itself, capper. You’re merely inserting an insinuation and suggesting a causal relationship.

Refutation of an inserted argument isn’t necessary, especially when you built a straw man.

Did Brandon ever mentionship ridership? Did the Walker stalker? Again, and ergo, no need for refutation.

    Well put Publius….

We can all only vote and hope for the best.

I wouldn’t worry too much about Capper…he’s a one trick pony. He hates Scott Walker and that’s about it.

Capper, you really should look into therapy for your anger issues.

Capper is the Dohnal of the left.

Innaccurate. the Board has never cut a route. They have not been always to restore the damage done by Walker, but have done their best. And don’t forget the damage would have been much worse if not for Senator Taylor.

Furthermore, unless stable funding is found, everyone, including Walker, say it will be cut by more than one third. Chicago might pay a little bit more, but they also provide a lot more. Walker only offers dissovency.

    Calvin-

Grow up and leave the echo chamber. There’s a whole world out there.

    John-

That’s harsh, but I am a much better speller than Donahl.

I seem to remember some “disrespectful, abrasive behavior” coming from you yourself when Kerry came to Milwaukee in 2004, Brandon. (It was extraordinarily amusing to suddenly recognize your voice as we approached the rally…)

  9. There is a difference between stating your opinion outside of a political speech, and walking on along parade route screaming at someone in the parade.

    It’s a question of context.
