Sometimes a column just nails it, Gerard Baker’s column “He ventured forth to bring light to the world” on Barack Obama’s recent international jaunt, is just such a column. Gerard exposes Obama’s trip for what it is through biblical/politcal satire so well, I just had to share it:
“The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.
…
In the great Battles of Caucus and Primary he smote the conniving Hillary, wife of the deposed King Bill the Priapic and their barbarian hordes of Working Class Whites.
…
In Jerusalem and in surrounding Palestine, the Child spake to the Hebrews and the Arabs, as the Scripture had foretold. And in an instant, the lion lay down with the lamb, and the Israelites and Ishmaelites ended their long enmity and lived for ever after in peace.
…
And suddenly, with the men appeared the archangel Gabriel and the whole host of the heavenly choir, ranks of cherubim and seraphim, all praising God and singing: “Yes, We Can.” ”

I assume that you realize how distasteful and politically incorrect this post is. If not, I have to serious question your intelligence.
Lets face it Brandon Obama has a message that resonates with people. McCain can’t figure out what countries border Iraq, the time line of the surge in Iraq, or distinguish the political factions that exist in the Middle East. (I will ignore his ignorance of domestic issues because it is so obvious.) Remind me again, why is McCain running and how did he win the nomination?
Honestly Richard, where do you get this stuff about McCain? Is this straight off DailyKos?
As to my post, I think it’s great political satire, so I featured it.
I consider it a distasteful cartoon that plays on the messiah complex that doesn’t exist. Where do you get your news… Red State, News Max, or, even worse, Fox News? I can’t wait for your next post about how Barack is a secret Muslim terrorist that wants to tax your tap water.
Brandon I have seen videos of McCain speak. The man has called his wife a cunt, has mistaken every fact about Iraq, and seems incapable of knowing basic geography. What rock are you living under?
Brandon – are you seriously saying that McCain didn’t mix-up shiite and sunni on several occasions, didn’t reference the Iraq/Pakistan border and isn’t currently insisting that the Anbar Awakening took place after the Surge?
You know, there is videos of all of these events (and many more, actually). You guys on the right really need to get caught up with youtube and the google.
As far as this specific post in question, I really couldn’t care less. I guess it’s clever, I don’t know. But to belittle Obama for being popular and loved is to first admit that he is popular and loved. And the GOP and McCain really has no answer for that.
John Q. Public can’t probably diferentiate between Presbytarians and Episcopalians and you want to impugn a man for mixing up Shia and Sunni?
What’s it like to be so much smarter than everyone else and to know your candidate is near perfect in his manner and action?
You mus be dense. We are talking about a man running for the most powerful office in the land. Unquestionably he must know how nations work and what drives their politics. If he doesn’t, he needs advisers who are experts that can help him. The fact that his advisor’s are so inadequate tells you more about McCain’s campaign than his gaffes. He is not Presidential material and I wish the RNC would choose someone else.
Multiple independent columnists are talking about how his campaign is one one of the worst ever run. Even the MSM is starting to talk about his terrible “misspeaks”.
I can’t believe McCain wants me to take him seriously. The reports on the ground are that people are voting against Obama, not for McCain. Many Republicans are disgusted with his positions, but can’t convince the RNC to replace him.
Richard-
“Where do you get your news… Red State, News Max, or, even worse, Fox News?”
This piece, if you had taken the time to click through, is actually from the UK Times Online (hmm should be one of your liberal news sources right, ouch!). I read well over 65 sources from all across the political sphere, nice try at painting me as an extremist though, you have learned well young Kos Kid.
“I consider it a distasteful cartoon that plays on the messiah complex”
It is neither distasteful, nor a cartoon. I specifically used it because it is a work of art done by an admiring (worshipful) student. It perfectly illustrates the messiah complex that really does exist. You were so ready to be upset you never clicked the photo credit link. Next time, click through the photo credit:

Also, I love how “you have seen videos”, please link them, take the time to truly defend yourself. I agree with Publius, it must be tough for you to know all.
But John Q. Public isn’t running for President on his vast experience and knowledge of foreign affairs.
If it was an isolated incident, then fine. But it happened on a few occasions. And when coupled with his numerous other foreign policy-related blunders, they become more than just “misstatement.”
Maybe I’m an elitist, but I expect my President to know full well the difference between Sunni and Shia in addition to knowing that Czechoslovakia hasn’t existed in over a decade, that Iraq and Pakistan do not share a border, the something that happened in September of 2006 did not occur after something that happened in January of 2007. This is not too much to ask from a man running as the Foreign Policy expert.
Links Richard! YOu have made numerous unfounded acusations, where are these “YouTube videos” and “numerous independent columnists”.
Your arguments hold to water if you don’t back them up.
And as far as “mispeaks” go, Obama thinks there are 57 states and wants to bomb Pakistan.

“But John Q. Public isn’t running for President on his vast experience and knowledge of foreign affairs.”
Nor is Senator Obama.
“Nor is Senator Obama.”
Exactly. John McCain is. And that’s why his repeated foreign policy gaffes are such a big deal. They cut directly into the very essence of his campaign. And now with Maliki supporting Obama’s withdrawal plan, McCain’s left with pretty much nothing except a lot of whining and baseless attacks.
I’d rather minor gaffes than knowing that my candidate has no ideas on his own, but rather has a team of 300 policy advisors.
That’s just amateur.
Here are a few links about how some pundits view McCain’s campaign. if you wanted me to go digging around in archives looking for more I could, but I would prefer not to. Most of the videos and information I get come from articles that I don’t save or keep tabs on.
http://www.politico.com/news/s.....12038.html
http://www.realclearpolitics.c.....prize.html
I see Evan has supplied some video links.
Lets just call it a wash. We both tried to accuse the other of being extremist and we are both wrong. I get my news from RealClearPolitics and I am a frequent visitor to DailyKos. I just watched The O’Reilly Factor last night. I am a 21 year old undergrad. I don’t have nearly the experience you do in politics or the same political activism. I am not considered liberal nor am I registered with the Democratic party.
I do find it hard to believe that your 65 sources failed to report these issues to you.
I could care less where the picture came from. I still consider it distasteful.
So back to the “empty suit” memo? What is this, April? Next a picture of him in a turban will appear. This is like a bad Clinton campaign re-run. Has the GOP hired Mark Penn yet?
I have to say, I don’t really understand how painting Obama as an empty suit amateur really reflects well on McCain while, according to the majority of polls, Obama is currently beating McCain. But keep it up. Something is bound to stick one of these days. I mean, it has to, right?
I wake up every morning listening to Charlie Sykes blast the main stream media for making a messiah out of Obama. But his immature rants do nothing to get McCain elected. I’m looking for a reason to support McCain but the best we get from the “alternative media” is that people act like Obama’s the Messiah.
BTW: Evan, your response with the video links, very well played.
I don’t need to be a rocket scientist to realize that obama things the government can solve most of the world’s problems. That incorrect belief outweights any number of McCain’s slips on sunni v. shiite and the czechwhateverwearecallingitfornow.
P.S. I know McCain seems to think the gov’t can solve some problems too (McCain-Feigngold etc.) but given the choice between him and Obama if your priority is a smaller less intrusive federal government the lesser of two evils isn’t too tough to find.
Richard, Brandon, play nice. You’re going to be family a year from now, whether you like it or not. At least wait to start catfighting until AFTER you’ve been formally introduced, okay?
I read this article elsewhere, and although I am a whole-hearted Obama supporter, I thought it was pretty amusing parody. But that’s just it: it is parody. Taking it seriously to heart is missing the point.
By the way, Evan…you beat me to it. I would add this “greatest hits” video to the list:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEtZlR3zp4c
It’s two months old, so it doesn’t include the recent goodies like his erroneous history of the surge and Anbar Awakening, the infamous “Viagra” grilling (in which he admitted that he didn’t know his own position–on an issue he had voted on in the Senate. Hmmm…), or his apparent belief that Pakistan and Iraq share a border, but it sure undermines his claim to be “straight-talking”!
I have yet to know any candidate to be perfect… Obama has enough of his own gaffes, but that is just the nature of the beast running for President. So toward November, they clarify their statements.
In reality Obama will probably become our next president… With the amount of experience he has with his socialist agenda we’ll see what happens.
