Picked up my press credentials (pictured), heading over to the business only session of the convention that is abbreviated due to Gustavo.

Watch here for the latest…

Still trying to find parking downtown. Ran into what appeared to be a small riot of liberal protesters that block Kellogg in front of me. Roughly 20 cops immediately put on gas masks and biked away and more cops surrounded where I was. I was then instructed to leave as roughly 100 protesters block the street. Here are a few pictures.

Just got situated, here are some pictures from radio row, the hurricane news center and on the convention floor.

4:45 – Laura Bush just came on, she has thanked everyone for coming, expressed regret this convention could not be all celebration and GWB couldn’t be here. She states our solidarity with the gulf coast states.

4:52 – Short taped messages from the governors of Texas, Alabama, Florida and New Orleans are being shown. Great messages of support, they wish they could be hear and God Bless America.

4:57 – Cindy McCain has now entered with Laura Bush and the crowd is going wild for the two future first ladies.

Cindy is asking everyone to “take off their Republican hats and put on their American hats”. Go to http://greatercause.com .

They wrapped up quick with a few links from each state.

5:03 – A quick prayer and gavel from the Chairman has ended today’s proceedings.

Not much of a showing in the special press section 222 (pictured) due to the hurricane, our thoughts an prayers are in New Orleans. I will follow this evening with any post convention proceedings.
