Three pieces of information for your consideration:
1.

2. The Daily Princetonian has this:
Physics professor William Happer GS ’64 has some tough words for scientists who believe that carbon dioxide is causing global warming.
“This is George Orwell. This is the ‘Germans are the master race. The Jews are the scum of the earth.’ It’s that kind of propaganda,” Happer, the Cyrus Fogg Brackett Professor of Physics, said in an interview. “Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. Every time you exhale, you exhale air that has 4 percent carbon dioxide. To say that that’s a pollutant just boggles my mind. What used to be science has turned into a cult.”
Happer served as director of the Office of Energy Research in the U.S. Department of Energy under President George H.W. Bush and was subsequently fired by Vice President Al Gore, reportedly for his refusal to support Gore’s views on climate change. He asked last month to be added to a list of global warming dissenters in a Senate Environment and Public Works Committee report. The list includes more than 650 experts who challenge the belief that human activity is contributing to global warming
Though Happer has promulgated his skepticism in the past, he requested to be named a skeptic in light of the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama, whose administration has, as Happer notes, “stated that carbon dioxide is a pollutant” and that humans are “poisoning the atmosphere.”
Happer maintains that he doubts there is any strong anthropogenic influence on global temperature.
“All the evidence I see is that the current warming of the climate is just like past warmings. In fact, it’s not as much as past warmings yet, and it probably has little to do with carbon dioxide, just like past warmings had little to do with carbon dioxide,” Happer explained. . . . .
3. A few facts on the inauguration from The Chilling Effect:
Everyone knows the new administration will be the greenest in modern times. But you might not know how un-green the Inauguration is going to be. The Institute For Liberty scratched together some rough figures for illustrative purposes, and our new analysis Carbon Bigfoot finds:
- Celebrities, politicians, and bigwigs using 600 private jets will produce 25,320,000 POUNDS of CO2
- Personal vehicles could account for 262,483,200 POUNDS of CO2
- In the parade, horses alone will produce more than 400 POUNDS of CO2
- The total carbon footprint for the Inauguration will likely exceed 575 million POUNDS of CO2
- It would take the average U.S. household 57,598 years to produce a carbon footprint equal to that of the new president’s housewarming party
The IFL is quick to note that it’s not criticizing the travel or commerce involved — those can be good things that keep America moving and prosperous. But some people want to tax and regulate carbon emissions, and they happen to be the same people pumping out carbon dioxide like it’s going out of style. Check out the report and pass it on to your friends!

concerning one: MU still does not cancel class… The High schoolers get class cancled. Which is crap because once you get inside the building you never have to leave unil the end of the day. MU-ers have go from dorm/house to class outside to their next class(es) and then back home…
Global Warming is a common misconception of the current phenomenal events taking place within the earth’s atmospheric systems and the events are better described as global climate change. The ice at the poles of the earth will work to offset the changes in the atmospheric temperature cycles, yet this will only occur in the short term. Let me pose a question to any of the readers out there, if you have a glass of water and blow air across the top of the glass of water toward your hand on the other side of the glass what temperature would you expect the air to reach hand at?
Now, if you decide to conduct the same experiment, but this time drop some ice into the glass prior to blowing across the top of the glass toward your hand on the other side. Would you expect the temperature to increase or decrease from trial one to trial two? The scientific name for what is going on is ‘entropy’ look it up on ‘wikipedia’, if you please. The cooling on earth will lead to a decrease in earths geomagnetic shield which will further compound the eventual heating or warming you mention. With that my only advice to anyone who is in disbelief is, “Just Wait”. Give it another couple years once all the ice is gone then the earth will be unable to naturally correct man’s influence.
Cheers,
Scott
Lets forget about the debate and care for G-d’s creation.
I also noticed how “global warming” quickly changed to “global climate change.” I don’t think the federal government should be tilting at this windmill.
Even if government could have a significant effect on our planet, how much would we be willing to spend to lower our planet’s temperature by one degree?
The planet’s temperature has gone up and down long before SUVs and CFCs.
