Many of my liberal friends, now that they are in the majority hot seat, say the Republicans need to come up with their own ideas rather than just shooting down the Democrats. As those who pay attention know, Republicans provide a plethora of ideas, they are just not covered by the bias press. One example of this is the recent $1.2 billion dollar tax increase the Wisconsin Democrats shoved down Wisconsin’s throat (oh, you didn’t hear about it?) that Jim Doyle is calling “stimulus”. It turns out the Republicans shared a ton of ideas, the Democrats just don’t listen (from a recent release from Rich Zipperer):
“It’s official. The first major piece of legislation approved by the new majority in the Assembly included $1.2 billion of job killing tax increases. And, after 50 separate suggestions to improve the bill were offered by Republicans and each were summarily rejected by Democrats, not a single Republican voted for the tax increases.”
50 Ideas!! Where is the press reporting on this? Here are some of the Republican ideas:

Eliminated $70.7 million in new sales tax collections
Exempted over-the-counter drugs from state sales tax

Provided immediate tax relief to start-up small businesses”

Voting against a bad ideas does not count as ideas. In 1994, the Republican’s proposed bold initiatives some worked, some didn’t but at leas there were ideas. The party is now intellectually bankrupt. Take a look at the list, how many ideas do you see? (Look at the verbs and you’ll see what I mean. I count only one “created”)
The August sales tax holiday is about the only thing on the list that constitutes an idea and that was just dumb. Someone want to tell me how the August sales tax holiday stimulated the economy because I’m not seeing it?
Here’s an idea, no taxes on text books. It might not stimulate the economy because college kids have to buy the books anyway but at least we can say were pro-education. And it seems to work well in the states that do it.
These are all ideas. Small, limited government is the central idea. This is the precise problem with Democrats and what they are making America become, they immediately believe government is the solution to all problems, it’s not! The Republican ideas cited above are revolutionary in the Big Government environment now being promoted by liberals. Get rid of taxes, get rid of government programs, return to individual responsibility and the innovation that small government with less regulations and lower taxes bring! All great Republican ideas!

I understand that Republican’s talk about small government. But it’s all talk. Deficits grew under Regan and both Bushes.
Why, because both parties are only interested in increasing their own power and both parties do it through big government:

Deficits grew under Reagan because Reagan had to appease Democrats who were in power. What is forgotten is that revenue doubled during the 1980s. Bush and Republicans appeased Democrats during the 00s because it was called bi-partisan and he had a country to defend. 2006 the Democrats took over and the deficits grew faster… now that Obama is in power the deficits have grown to $1.5 trillion with new Tax Hikes on the “Rich”… new Capital Gains Tax… etc. We are in the era of the Democrat right now… I seem to remember studying the last era during Carter and there were a lot of similarities.
Today the Stock Market crashed… do you think any stimulus the Democrats have created worked?
With both Carter and Clinton revenue was greater than spending.

I’ve been shorting the marktet so the stimulus is working nicely for me.
