The public is finally beginning to realize that Doyle’s constant tax and fee increases (his latest budget is packed full of them) are what is causing the dismal 9.7% unemployment (highest in 27 yrs) here in Wisconsin. His approval rating has plummented to 45%, down 14%!
Many people like to blame Gov. Doyle’s dismal job and subsequent approval rating on the economy, I disagree. I believe that when the going gets tough, it really exposes the poor management of leaders who have been making mistakes during the good (or better) times, which is exactly what is happening with Doyle. He is just starting to see the consequences of his fiscal irresponsibility and constant government bloat.
Contrast that with Scott Walker, who has managed to not raise taxes in his last 7 budgets asn Milwaukee County Executive (not an easy job), has decreased the size of county government by 24% and improved the county bond rating while Doyle’s state bond rating decreased. Maybe there is hope on the horizon for the dairy state.
