McGee, Jr. Lacks Sense of Risk, Love for the Loves

Badger Blogger has a summary of all the drama going around. In the early hours following Michael McGee, Jr.’s arrest, he appeared to have pulled a Martha Stewart. From the Journal Sentinel on Tuesday:

The [federal] complaint says that for at least the past year, McGee has traded his power for cash, extorting from $500 to $2,500 from each of several business owners.

Calling himself the “gatekeeper” for new businesses in his district, he told one owner his help would cost “a pretty penny” as he demanded a bigger bribe, the nine-page criminal complaint says.

A few bribes of up to $2500? Sure, there are probably more that have not come forward, but we’re talking about a man making $71,506 a year. Add to that the fact that he seems to be able to do just about any ridiculous thing he wants without truly upsetting his constituency, and you’d think the guy was crazy to risk it for a few grand.

Of course, Martha Stewart never extorted or threatened people into making her popular, which the state charges clearly suggests is the case here:

[Milwaukee County District Attorney Chisholm] said McGee and two other men - Little Stewart, 52, and Dimitrius Jackson, 38 - originally planned to kill a man suspected of burglarizing Stewart’s home but later settled on a “beat down,” which would involve a payment of $1,000 instead of the original figure of $3,000.

Perhaps the constituency wasn’t so in love with McGee as it was afraid of him. At this point, the community should be disgusted at the way that he extorted the very people he claimed to be supporting, including the a few of the Loves, one of the most successful and ambitious business families in the inner city of Milwaukee.

If they are not, blind loyalty may be as much of a concern in the district as corruption and bribery.

McGee Jr. Calls Whites “dumb devils”, starts blog

Written by Brandon on May 9, 2007 – 9:10 am -

This just keeps getting worse. Following the “indefinite” suspension (some are predicting two weeks) of his father after he wished death upon Charlie Sykes and said that Sykes’ mother deserved death, Micheal McGee, Jr. has come out swinging. He called white people “dumb devils” after a white person called into his show and, in case you had any doubt surrounding his racist rants, he has started a blog, mcgee4me.blogspot.com, first reported by Patrick. Wow. Here is a quick sample of his writing:

We have periodically organized and won small battles, such as desegregation, and voting rights. When we use the HOLY SPIRIT and FAITH In Action; satan knows his time is up! Whenever SATANS’ PLAYGROUND is in jeopardy, he uses his dumb devil’s to come up with more and more deceit. THEY use new tactics and obstacles, i.e. poor education, capitalism, prison system to further the cause of evil. Evil spelled backwords is Live, we want to Live for the revolution, not die for it! GOD spelled backwards is Dog- self explanatory!

Wow.

French Election: Word on the Street

Written by Brandon on May 7, 2007 – 9:05 am -

For a different perspective on the French election, here is a direct quote from one of the gentlemen I work with in France as we were discussing the election results and civil unrest before an international teleconference this morning:

On my way in to work I overheard people nearby saying “He has a nice car, let’s burn it”. I drove faster.

I wish France the best with their new conservative (for France) president, he has an uphill battle.

Liberal Talker McGee Wishes Conservative Sykes Would Have Burned With Mother

Written by Brandon on May 6, 2007 – 1:06 pm -

In the continuing, disgusting saga of liberal talk show host Michael McGee, Sr.’s attack on conservative talk show host Charlie Sykes’ mother, McGee confirmed his statement on Fox 6 news and compared Sykes to Hitler and Satan. Then, he stated the only thing he regretted was that “his stringy haired ho son wasn’t layin’ there with her” when Katherine Sykes died in a fire.

Here is the original coverage from Channel 12 news:

Can you imagine the national media storm if a conservative did this? The double standard is shocking and as Katie said, this seems to be more and more of a systematic problem.

McGee Heartlessness: Other Liberals Removed Surprise Factor

Written by Katie on May 4, 2007 – 2:21 pm -

Outraged? Absolutely. But the reason not to be surprised about Michael McGee, Sr.’s on air comments about the death of Charlie Sykes’s mother has nothing to do with his disposition to ridiculousness.

Much should and will be made over how this relates to the Imus hoopla, but take the comments out of the context of the radio waves, and it’s just another reflection of a growing trend in liberal heartlessness and incivility in cases like this.

Consider this sampling of the working over of Tony Snow in the liberal blogosphere following the his cancer announcement:

I admit my bias shows with these stories. I hear about Tony Snow and say to myself, well, stand up every day, lie to the American people at the behest of your dictator-esque boss and well, how could a cancer NOT grow in you. Work for Fox News, spinning the truth in to a billion knots and how can your gut not rot? I know, it’s terrible. I admit it. I don’t wish anyone harm, even Tony Snow. And I do hope he recovers or at least does what he feels is best and surrounds himself with friends and family for his journey. But in the back of my head there’s Justin Timberlake’s “What goes around, goes around, comes around, comes all the way back around, ya..”

Check out the death wishes that flowed out of the close call attempt on Dick Cheney’s life:

In a nutshell, the [Bill Maher] said the world would be a safer place if the assassination attempt succeeded. And, he even had the nerve to reiterate it.

Look at the gross indifference of Markos Zuniga at the brutual torture and killing of some Americans in Fallujah:

That said, I feel nothing over the death of merceneries [sic]. They aren’t in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them.

Utter contempt in the face of tragedy and heartbreak is a disgusting affliction. And it seems to be spreading in liberal circles. The eerily casual nature of the cruel statements is thoroughly nauseating… but surprising? No more.

Confusion lies behind pro-life victories in homocide cases

Written by Katie on May 2, 2007 – 7:28 pm -

California has once again exposed the inconsistencies involved in the case for abortion on demand.

In a decision handed down this week, serial killer Chester Turner was convicted of eleven murders, including one committed against an unborn child. From CNN:

One victim was Regina Washington, 27, who was 6½ months pregnant when she was strangled with an electrical cord behind a vacant house in September 1989. Her fetus was considered one of the murder victims.

I just don’t get it. A part of her body was murdered? A blob of tissue was murdered? The average fourth grader can easily identify the gross inconsistencies here.

Of course, this is not the first of such cases. In 2005, California courts also found Scott Peterson guilty for the murder of his unborn child. Now, under the Unborn Victims of Violence Act (inspired by the Peterson case), unborn children have been given protection from assault and murder.

So what exactly is it that the pro-choice lobby wants the mother to have a choice over? It seems ridiculous to say that anyone should be able to willfully harm an unborn child and suffer no penalties. After all, this is an injustice against both the child and its parents, and any pro-woman ideology should reject it.

At the same time, the law appears to be allowing a mother to choose when her child is or is not a person. Funny that the definition of a person would rely in any way on how another person feels about a specific situation. Theoretically, a fetus could be found to be a victim of assault and then subsequently aborted with no penalties. In fact, the mother herself could be convicted of first-degree murder for the exact same act that an abortionist would be payed to commit.

Kudos goes to California, for demonstrating yet again why the only consistent, logical, moral viewpoint is that life begins at conception and should be protected from then onward.

I’ll be saving the world now

Written by Justin on April 25, 2007 – 2:37 pm -

A little while back I told you all that the world was coming to an end. Well now, here’s my shot to save humanity from the asteroids of impending doom.

A new world has been discovered a mere 20.5 light years (120,000,000,000,000 miles) away from Earth.

The discovery was announced today by a team of European astronomers, using a telescope in La Silla in the Chilean Andes.

This plant is the first truly Earth-like planet found in our solar system, meaning it has some water, a little bit of gravity, a touch of atmosphere and the all important normal life-sustainable temperatures (between 32-102 degrees Fahrenheit). So far this is the first of 220+ extro-planets (a planet that orbits a star besides our Sun) that is anything like our Earth. Most of the other plants have been too big, made of gas, too hot or too cold for life.

The new planet, which orbits a small, red star called Gliese 581. The red star is about 50 times cooler than our Sun. So that means that the planet is much closer to said sun.

The Earth-like planet orbits its sun at a distance of only six million miles or so (our Sun is 93 million miles away), traveling so fast that its “year” only lasts 13 of our days.

The parent star would dominate the view from the surface - a huge red ball of fire that must be a spectacular sight.

As for the size of the planet (being called Gliese 581C –though Phillips World is better-), it’s much bigger than our Earth. It’s 12,000 miles across (versus Earth’s 8,000) and it has a mass five times that of Earth. What that translates into is we can use more SUVs, coal burning power plant and Styrofoam for a lot longer, before anything bad happens (not that we’re even causing global warming on this planet to begin with) .

Consequently, if there is water and such that human life might be sustainable on the planet, that means there could be some other form of life out there. This life will probably have to be annihilated before any humans can live there –just to be on the safe side. ‘

Since I was first to let everyone know about our Earth’s impending doom, thus saving it, and now the newly discovered planet, I find it only fair that I call shotgun for dictator and overlord of the new world. This will truly be a brave new world (literally).

Enforcement of Hijab in Iran

Written by Katie on April 23, 2007 – 8:12 pm -

In a post earlier this month, there was a discussion on forcing women to adhere to hijab. Some debate arose as to whether or not any countries still enforced this policy. Yesterday’s press release from the AFP affirms strict enforcement of such requirements in Iran:

Iran warns women over slack dressing

by Farhad Pouladi
Sun Apr 22, 5:19 PM ET

TEHRAN (AFP) -
Iran has issued more than a thousand warnings and arrested dozens in a new drive aimed at forcing women whose dress is deemed inappropriate to adhere to Islamic dress rules, officials said Sunday.

The nationwide drive — an annual pre-summer crackdown given greater prominence this year — is aimed primarily at women whose coats are seen as too tight, trousers excessively short or hejabs (headscarves) overly loose.

It foresees handing out warnings and guidance to women found to have infringed its dress code in public. Those who show resistance to change can be arrested and then be the subject of legal proceedings.

“Since the plan started at 10:00 am on Saturday, 1,347 women have been warned and given Islamic guidance,” the head of information at Tehran city’s police force, Mehdi Ahmadi, told AFP.

“There were 170 arrests. Of these, 58 were released after making a written commitment and rectifying their appearance. The cases of the rest, who already had a record, were handed over to the judiciary,” he said.

It would be interesting to see the reaction of an American woman, liberal, conservative, or otherwise, were she to be offered “Islamic guidance” on the streets of this great country.

Perhaps the fact that some are unable or unwilling to recognize the reality of this situation is an indication of how truly outrageous it is.

What the Abortion Lobby Wants to Keep from the Contents of Your Skull

Written by Katie on April 19, 2007 – 8:04 pm -

Whenever there’s big news on abortion, and partial-birth abortion in particular, it’s always telling to see just how far the Mainstream Media will go to tiptoe around the reality of the issue. The Marquette Warrior noted an exception yesterday, an unusually descriptive piece produced by the AP that explained both “dilation & extraction” and “dilation & evacuation”.

This morning’s Journal Sentinel, on the other hand, did not deviate in holding to the selective language. The following excerpt come from the
article printed on the JS’s front page today:

Later in a pregnancy, however, some form of surgery is required. At this stage, most doctors give the woman anesthesia and use instruments to remove the fetus in pieces. This procedure is known as a “dilation and evacuation,” or D&E, and it remains legal.

Some doctors who perform second-term abortions say it’s safer and less risky to remove the fetus intact because that method is less likely to expose the woman to injury, bleeding or infection. Usually, doctors would crush the skull, or drain its content, to permit its removal. This method has been referred to as a “dilation and extraction,” or D&X, and was made illegal by the 2003 law.

You know… “drain its content”… sort of like a bathtub or something. Hopefully the average reader will know what’s inside the skull — human brains of course, and they aren’t drained like a bathtub; they’re sucked out like the dirt in your car.

Equally vague is the D&E description, which almost implies that the fetus is just kind of floating around in pieces in the womb, ready to be removed one-by-one. The writer seems to have missed the part where the abortionist rips the fetus to pieces before removing the pieces.

This is a common problem in the Mainstream Media but seems to flow from the abortion lobby. Planned Parenthood’s website describes D&E as the uterus being “emptied with medical instruments and suction.” Who could differentiate this procedure from any other based on this information?

More importantly, why can’t women know what’s really going on with their bodies when they undergo an abortion? Why are the true procedures of common, supposedly acceptable surgeries so hush-hush? Why are people that are so concerned with a woman’s ability to choose not ensuring that she makes an informed choice?

Perhaps its because if people were faced with the reality of what abortion is, they’d be more likely to choose something else.

Global Warming as a National Security Risk, Skeptics Silenced in the US

Written by Brandon on April 10, 2007 – 12:16 pm -

It appears that the media’s hype surrounding Global Whining is getting help from RINO Chuck Hagel and “Gulag/Pol Pot accuser” Dick Durbin. Sens Durbin and Hagel have introduced a bill to designate global warming as a “national security threat”. Weather cycles are now a national security threat worthy of a “series of war games to determine how global climate change could affect US security”?

Don’t we have better things to spend our time and money on (Iran, Iraq, healthcare, free trade, tax reform, missile defense(from Iran), social security reform, how green the grass is by the Washington Monument, what color flowers look best for the next White House dinner….). Here is a quick description of the bill:

The CIA and Pentagon would for the first time be required to assess the national security implications of climate change under proposed legislation intended to elevate global warming to a national defense issue.

We don’t even know if it is real! Oh wait, if you read this Boston Globe article, it seems that global warming is an absolute certainty and that this is just the next logical step. Nevermind team Global Warming’s hypocrisy, there are still many skeptics who are completely ignored here in the US by a media obsessed with global warming alarmism. After all, isn’t the weather report so much more interesting and ominous now?

Newsbusters has a great post with links to two documentaries that are skeptical of the Global Warming hype but, of course they have never been aired here in the US.

Enacting policies and procedures based on one-sided media hype and contested scientific hoopala is a waste of the American peoples’ time and money. Frankly, it insults any rational persons’ intellect.
