4 Steps to Increased Conservative Influence (through Digg)

"Only a few hours after I wrote DIGG is Filled with Liberal Idiots it had gotten 104 DIGGS and then died an ignoble death, buried by whining, cry-baby, liberal idiots who only proved that they indeed cannot take disagreement, or criticism…."

Basically, you wrote something idiotic and got called on it...then proceeded to whine about how "they" are whiny idiots who can't take criticism.

Am I the only one who finds this oddly amusing?

Chuck, when ignorant or malicious people purport to speak for liberals, I don't stand for it. They don't speak for me, and I'm not about to silently condone their words by letting them pass unchallenged. I expect the same level of integrity from my opponents.

If I called all conservatives "mind-numbed" or even "crazies" (like Adam), I have no doubt the bloggers here would leap for my jugular, and no wonder. However, if a conservative makes the same accusations against "the opposition"...radio silence, amounting to tacit agreement. Both sides, liberal and conservative alike, engage in such hypocrisy. They stand for their party rather than for ethics. I find that to be disgusting.

I don't know the other bloggers here personally, but I know Brandon, and although we disagree on many issues, I have the utmost respect for his integrity. That's why I find it very odd indeed that there has been no response from him on any occasion that such comments have been made against liberals...very odd.

"Bravo, don’t let the mind numbed liberals get you down."

Hey, Brandon, is it too much to expect you to set this guy straight? After all, a certain "mind-numbed liberal" cousin of yours was a National Merit Finalist.

Being a liberal doesn't automatically make one stupid any more than being a Christian does. The same holds true for conservativism. Are there stupid liberals? Hell yes. Are there stupid conservatives? Hell yes. Are there extremely intelligent members of both parties? Of course.

I really don't have any comment on the post itself, but I feel compelled to comment that Adam in no way speaks for me. I may be a liberal, but I also believe there are (at least) two sides to every story. Part of why I come to this blog is to hear the conservative side of the story. Sometimes, I even find myself in agreement with the conservatives.

Adhering blindly to a political ideology no matter what is an act of ignorance.

Brit Cabinet Sec'y: Hillary for President

I have no objection to foreigners commenting on our electoral process and candidates. That said, I don't take kindly to Howard's breed of personal attacks. I have the same feeling of disgust whenever I hear Bush compared to Hitler...it's revolting. There is no comparison.

(Sean--what foreign policy experience did Bush have coming into office, exactly? Not that he's a great case for inexperienced leaders...)

Seriously Christian Must Not Equal Unserious Academics

As a non-Christian who attended YMCA day camp as a child and who has worked at formerly YMCA residential camp, I learned early on that when you join a private institution giverned by a certain set of beliefs, you accept that as part of the deal. It is one thing for a secular institution like the Girl Scouts to try to force girls into reciting a Christian grace; a non-Christian Girl Scout would have every right to protest. But when the camp I work at hangs a portrait of Jesus on the wall of the dining hall and ends its campfires with "In the Garden", that's just part of the package deal of a YMCA camp. I don't sing along, but I don't complain that the song is being sung either. I knew what I was signing on to.

Students who go to Marquette know they are signing on to attend a private Catholic college. If they object to Catholic values being enforced, they should choose another school. Period.

Mormon vs Hussein: The Battle of Negative Headlines

In that case, Brandon, I agree. I misunderstood the point you were trying to make.

But then again, in Romney's case the context has most frequently been, "Is America ready for a Mormon president?", just as with Obama and Clinton the ever-present question has been, "Is America ready for a black or woman president?" (Similarly, with JFK the question was, "Is America ready for a Catholic president?") The wrong question to ask? Absolutely. Is such questioning necessarily negative? I would probably say no--in most cases.

Obama didn't choose his middle name. Romney chose his religion--and if he has any religious integrity, he ought to be proud of his Mormonism rather than worrying about minimizing it. Joe Liberman didn't object to the fact that the press coverage of his VP bid was "Jew" this and "Jewish" that. If you really believe in something, you shouldn't be ashamed to be associated with it.

My Two Days with the Base

It's always useful to think before group labelling the opposition. You never know who they might really be.

For instance, I know a couple who have been married steadily for twenty years and raised two extremely bright, drug-and-sex-free daughters. Both of them work as criminal defense attorneys, striving to make "justice for all" a reality. They are also religious and attend services. One of their daughters plans on going for religious ordination. In short, they are an extremely loving, clean living family. They are also "godless commie America-hating liberals".

They are my parents.

If I were a Democrat

I'm hoping for a ticket of Edwards for Prez., Obama for VP, and Hilary for nothing. I can't stand that woman.
